La cosiddetta “Freccia del Sud” corre tra Palmi e Villa San Giovanni, in Calabria, durante una notte di ottobre del 2006. Il suono è registrato all’interno del treno, seduto in uno scompartimento di sei posti occupato da sei persone. Benchè tutte gli occupanti fossero svegli nessuno parla: il treno è partito da Milano e c’ha messo circa 17 ore per arrivare a quel punto. Inoltre, com’è facile immaginare, la pressione acustica è troppo alta per avere una normale conversazione: all’inizio della registrazione si possono udire un paio di persone conversare ma si tratta di due occupanti del mio scompartimento seduti davanti a me!

The so called “freccia del sud” (South Arrow) italian train running on the railway branch between Palmi and Villa San Giovanni during a night of october 2006. The sound is recorded inside the train: although all people was awake none of them was talking : the train starts from Milan and it took more than 17 hours to get to the recording point. Besides, as you can just figure out, the sound pressure is too hight to have normal conversations. The couple of people that you can hear in the first part of the recording was talking side by side seated in front of my microphone!

This recording is part of my own sound capturing project of the “Freccia del Sud” complete trip from Milan to Agrigento (24 hors).
